Mansfield, PA—First Citizens Community Bank (FCCB) is proud to announce a $50,000 contribution to BeST Transit through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s Neighborhood Assistance Program (NAP). This funding is specifically designated to sustain and expand critical transportation services for veterans across Tioga, Bradford, and Sullivan counties.
While shared-ride programs exist for seniors and those with disabilities, many veterans fall into a “coverage gap,” failing to qualify for traditional subsidized transport. This gap often leaves those who served without reliable means to reach essential services. Mark Hamilton, Executive Director of BeST Transit, noted that before this initiative, some veterans were forced to resort to hitchhiking just to reach the VA Clinic in Scranton.
With this $50,000 investment from FCCB, BeST Transit can ensure that honorably discharged veterans have access to free, reliable transportation for medical appointments, pharmacy visits, grocery shopping, and other essential needs that maintain their independence.
“We at BeST are excited to partner with FCCB to bring more accessibility of our services to the residents of the three-county area we serve,” said Mark Hamilton, Executive Director of BeST Transit. “Many veterans do not qualify for their transportation needs through any of our other funded programs. By BeST and FCCB teaming up under the State’s Neighborhood Assistance Program, we can assure any veteran in need of transportation for life’s needs will have it.”
The partnership highlights FCCB’s commitment to community-driven solutions. By bridging the transportation gap, the bank is helping to remove the physical barriers that prevent local heroes from accessing the care they earned.
Veterans in Tioga, Bradford, and Sullivan counties interested in the program are encouraged to contact BeST Transit at 1-800-242-3484 or their local county veterans service office to enroll.
Based in Mansfield, Pennsylvania, FCCB operates 39 community offices strategically positioned across Pennsylvania, New York, Delaware, and New Jersey.
